Brown, who has more than 2 million followers on TikTok and nearly 700,000 on Instagram, is now known for her easy vegan recipes, which she posts regularly on social media. She also has a cookbook, "Tabitha Brown's Vegan Recipes From Scratch," which was released in October.
Brown, who was raised in North Carolina, said she grew up eating "a lot of soul food, a lot of fried foods, a lot of barbecue." When she went vegan about four years ago, she initially thought she would have to give up her favorite foods.
"I was like, 'There's no way I'm giving up barbecue. There's no way I'm giving up fried chicken,'" she said. "But then I realized that you can veganize anything."
Brown makes a vegan version of pulled pork using jackfruit, a tropical fruit that has a meat-like texture when cooked. She also makes vegan fried chicken using seitan, a wheat-based meat alternative.
"With both of those recipes, I was able to create the taste and the texture of the food that I grew up eating, but without any of the animals," she said.
Brown said her ultimate goal is to show people that vegan food can be tasty and easy to make.
"I want to normalize veganism," she said. "I want people to see that it's not weird, it's not different. It's just another way of eating."
Brown will be appearing at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on January 26 as part of the Food & Wine Festival. She will be doing a cooking demonstration and will also be available to answer questions about veganism.
"I'm really excited to be a part of the festival," she said. "I think it's going to be a lot of fun."
Brown said she is looking forward to meeting people and showing them that vegan food can be delicious.
"I want people to walk away from my demonstration feeling like they can do it, too," she said. "I want them to feel empowered."
Tabitha Brown, a popular vegan cook and social media influencer, is embarking on an 8-city book tour. The tour will promote her new cookbook, "Vegan Cooking for Everyone."
The tour comes after a bit of drama surrounding Brown's TV show, "Cooking with Tabitha." The show was abruptly canceled after just one season, reportedly due to creative differences between Brown and the producers.
Despite the drama, Brown remains upbeat and is looking forward to connecting with her fans on the book tour. She'll be sharing her favorite vegan recipes, as well as stories from her own journey to veganism.
If you're interested in learning more about vegan cooking, or just want to meet Tabitha Brown in person, be sure to check out her book tour. It's sure to be a fun and informative event!
