Adam Sandler — one of the biggest names in Hollywood — has always been a topic of discussion especially when it comes to the legacy that he will leave on the film industry when he decides to hang the gloves for good. People’s opinions are divided on whether the American actor can be included in one of the many great performers to ever grace the silver screen — or if he earns a spot in one of the most panned actors in recent times due to negatively received flicks such as Jack and Jill and That’s My Boy. While the controversy continues to push on, we think that Adam Sandler should be cut some slack. Here are four reasons as to why we believe that Adam Sandler is actually more talented than people realize.
4. Good Actor in Bad Movies
Adam Sandler is not the terrible actor that people assume him to be. While a number of comedy films that the American actor has starred in has been on the receiving end of backlash from both fans and critics — Adam’s performances hold themselves well regardless of the incoherent plot lines and cheesy movie tropes. An example of this is the actor’s performance in the lukewarm-received film Happy Gilmore which we think he’s been able to manage himself well in.
3. He Has Charisma
Everyone knows the signature Adam Sandler character. From the childish comedic presence to the exaggerated emotions and cheesy punch lines, Adam Sandler makes his presence known easily. The actor’s charismatic presence stands out whenever he’s on camera that it’s sure to give anyone a light chuckle.
2. A Knack For Drama
While Adam Sandler is known for a string of comedies which range from well-praised to downright shot down, the American filmmaker is known for delivering powerful performances in dramas as well. Just recently, Adam was on the Academy Awards-watchlist for his electric performance in widely acclaimed crime-thriller film Uncut Gems. Also, who could forget that scene from his 2006 film Click which left audiences tearing up?
1. Master of Timing
Overall, Adam Sandler is a master of timing. The actor knows when to expose his goofy side to the extreme or when to hold back his light-hearted side in order to deliver a powerful punch of emotions. He is aware of the nuances that his character has been gradually known for as his acting career took off — and he has embraced it. Instead of allowing himself to be disturbed by negative critical response, Adam stayed true to the silly and awkward persona that fans have grown to love over the years.
