Miss Cosmos International 2020, Amayah Lauer, is a twenty-year-old from Parkersburg, West Virginia. She is currently in Cosmetology school, has a love for working out, and a huge heart for animals. Her platform is working with One Love Animal Rescue to complete fundraisers and collect necessary items for local animal shelters. She also speaks about mental health and brings awareness to others, showing how animals can also help lift people’s spirits. Amayah has only competed in two pageants and says she’s fallen in love with the self-confidence it’s brought her and relationships she’s built through her journey.
What are some major achievements or accolades that you've accumulated?
During my reign, I have put in many hours of community service which is very important to me. I love being involved in my community and giving back any way I can. I am shooting towards the presidential award for community service hours and hope to exceed that goal within the next year.
How do use your platform as an influencer to spread "What's Good" to the world and who have you impacted?
I use my platform to work with community animal shelters and help any way possible with their needs. I also volunteer at an assisted living home where I incorporate my love for animals. I do puppy dog visits with the senior citizens and love seeing them interact with the animals and the joy they bring to each other. Animals can help in many ways that some people don’t even notice.
What are some projects that you are currently working on or promoting?
I am currently working on a coat drive in my local area to donate warm coats to those in need for the upcoming winter season. Around the holidays it’s important we help those in need.
Who do you have to credit for your success?
I credit my success to my hometown director of West Virginia Cosmos, Catherine Bandestra. She’s pushed me way out of my comfort zone and finally convinced me to compete. After doing it I can confidently say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The self-confidence and brought me, the things it made me learn about myself and grow as a person, and of course the relationships and bonds that I’ve built I wouldn’t trade for the world.
